Much better known in Antiquity where it crowned the heads of winners and in the culinary art where it is part of the composition of the bouquet garni, bay leaf produces a remarkable essential oil still too little used in aromatherapy. Native to the Mediterranean basin, this tree with dark gray and smooth bark bears shiny dark green leaves above, paler below.

The essential oil of noble laurel is extremely effective. Anti-infectious and antiviral: it acts on oral and skin, pulmonary and fungal infections. It is anti-inflammatory (throat, skin in case of ulcers).

It is energizing and invigorating. It is a cerebral neurotonic stimulant which acts on anxieties, fears, asthenia of premenopause, it is an analgesic on rheumatism and osteoarthritis.
